Emotional Support Animals are not the same thing as a Service Animal. The former are becoming a distressingly common occurrence in communities that otherwise does not allow pets and/or that have breed restrictions. Service and emotional support animal requests are one area where you do not want to “go it alone”.
The law firm of Becker & Poliakoff will be discussing Emotional Support Animals and the role your association must play when one is being requested in your community. We will review the community association's duties and responsibilities as a housing provider under Federal, State and local Fair Housing Acts. Also, we will be discussing best practices and real world examples of discrimination claims, and how those claims have impacted some communities.
Light refreshments will be served.
There is no charge to attend, but seating is limited.
Participants must be registered in advance to reserve a seat.
